What are trench heaters?
Trench heating is a type of heating emitter that is recessed in the floor along the perimeter of a window. It consists of a series of heating elements that are embedded in a steel casing and sometimes a 24VDC tangential fan to boost output. Designed for low water temperatures, the heat exchangers are connected to a heating source, such as a boiler or heat pump. Firstly, there are two main reasons why trench heating is perfect for new buildings:
- Low water Temperature capability. This is due to the heating element that allows for up to 8-pipe passes through the heating element. The aluminum fins are corrugated and have a high fin density maximizing heat output.
- The use of 24VDC fans with EC Motors. These fans are quiet, low energy consumption, safe to operate and very easy to maintain.
